Indische Oceaan

Duiken in de Indische Oceaan kan op veel verschillende manieren en vanaf veel verschillende waanzinnige locaties. Zo zijn er meerdere liveaboard reizen die je kan boeken in bijvoorbeeld de Malediven, Oman en Seychellen. Om alles uit je duikvakantie te halen en zoveel mogelijk tijd in, op en rondom het water door te brengen is een duikcruise natuurlijk de perfecte optie. Duik op verschillende wrakken tussen en rond de eilanden in Oman, zwem een dolfijn tegen het lijf in de Seychellen en ontmoet walvishaaien en scholende manta’s in misschien wel de nummer 1 van onze bestemmingen in de Indische Oceaan, de Malediven.

Naast liveaboard duikvakanties zijn er natuurlijk ook divers verblijfplaatsen op het land en die zijn meer dan de moeite waard. Neem bijvoorbeeld het betoverende Kenia en overnacht in een game-lodge en ga opzoek naar de Big Five boven en onderwater, verscheidene koralen en macro-organismen. Neem een duik rondom Round Island, zwem met inktvissen, keizersvissen en bezoek watervallen op het sprookjesachtige Mauritius. Duik in Salalah in het zuiden van Oman en misschien kom je dan wel dolfijnen tegen. Spring in het diepe met walvissen en manta’s vanaf één van ’s werelds beste duikbestemmingen ter wereld Tofu Beach te Mozambique. Laat je betoveren door de turquoise kleur van het water, de spierwitte stranden, de vleermuisvissen en een verscheidenheid aan haaiensoorten in Zanzibar en profiteer van luxe en rust terwijl je jouw Blue Lagoon filmmoment beleeft op Mafia Island in Tanzania.

Tot slot het schitterende Zuid-Afrika. De droom van elke avonturier die zowel de Big Five boven als onderwater wil spotten, die zwemmen met zandtijgerhaaien en walvishaaien geen enkel probleem vindt en wie houdt van de vurigste zonsondergangen. Er zijn verschillende reizen naar Zuid-Afrika te boeken. Zo is één van de bekendste Umkomaas – Aliwal Shoal. Hier zie je tijdens je duiken talloze rifhaaien en beleef je een heus avontuur op de hoge golven van de Indische Oceaan.
